SASSI also know as Alcohol Evaluation

Substance Abuse Evaluation (Alcohol Evaluation)

The SASSI-4 is a clinically developed screening tool used to help identify whether a person may have a substance use disorder or a high probability of substance dependence.

Unlike many questionnaires that simply ask direct questions like “Do you drink too much?” or “Do you use drugs often?”, the SASSI-4 is designed to detect substance dependency even when someone may minimize, deny, or not fully recognize the extent of a problem.

It combines:

Direct questions about alcohol and drug use
Indirect or “subtle” questions that measure attitudes, behaviors, defensiveness, and patterns commonly associated with substance misuse

The assessment is commonly used by:

  • Courts
  • Probation departments
  • DWI/DUI programs
  • Counselors and treatment providers
  • Employers in some settings

The SASSI-4 itself is not a diagnosis. It is a screening instrument that helps a licensed professional determine:

  • Whether further evaluation is recommended.
  • Whether education or treatment may be appropriate.
  • The likelihood of a substance use disorder

Took the DWI Course with Lindsey Cason and she was excellent. Very thorough and personable.

The only thing that I would suggest is better updated videos, there was no sound on a lot of them, just in and out and the quality was not very good. It was like watching soundless black & white TV. It got the point across though!
